Not a big story in a game when 16th ranked DutchGroningen (8-20) was outscored by third ranked Belgian Kangoeroes (21-7) in Mechelen 85-62 on Saturday. Mechelen forced 25 Groningen turnovers. The winners were led by American forward Aundre Hyatt (198-2000, college: Rutgers) who scored that evening 24 points and 5 rebounds and the other American import guard Trenton Gibson (193-2000, college: Indiana St.) supported him with 20 points. Even a double-double of 18 points and 11 rebounds by Czech-Canadian center James Karnik (206-1998, college: Boston Coll., agency: Players Group) did not help to save the game for Groningen . British-Dutch guard Sam Van Oostrum (197-1998, college: FPU) added 15 points for the guests. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Kangoeroes have a solid three-game winning streak. Mechelen maintains third position with 21-7 record having five points less than leader Kortrijk. Loser Groningen keeps the sixteenth place with 20 games lost.
